Knowledge Transfer Partnership
There is expertise in the UK's universities, colleges and research organisations that could be of value to businesses in developing new products, services and processes.
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are designed to help companies access this expertise and bring it into their business by working in partnership with academics or researchers.
With the help of a specialist Knowledge Transfer Partnership Consultant, companies can identify a university, college or research organisation that has the right expertise for that business.
Working together, a project is defined and agreed that will enable companies to draw on expertise and apply it within their own business.
The agreed project could be for any length of time between one and three years, with the overall aim of helping businesses make a step change in an area that has been identified as high priority for that business.
Blairs have recently completed a Knowledge Transfer Partnership which implemented an increase in production capacity through a combination of Product and Process re-design and IT system integration.
Blairs have continued to support this DTI initiative and have provided user feedback to companies interested in this method of business development. This has led to our Engineering Director, Allan French C.Dir., representing business users on the West of Scotland KTP Advisory Board.
